Latest issue: Autumn 2024

Thames Tideway, our cover story this issue, is the ‘super sewer’ that will replace London’s ageing sewage system. The 25km tunnel, with a capacity of 1.6 million cubic metres, is a “once-in-a -lifetime megaproject that will service the capital’s inhabitants for the next 120 years.

Another grand vision is being realised at Nammo Space, where propulsion engines and systems will end up on missions to the moon, Mars and other planets. We go behind-the-scenes to take a closer look at the team’s ‘New-Space’ style agility.

Finally, Dr Yvonne Thompson, new President of APM, sets out an ambitious agenda for her time in office. This includes steering the profession through tech innovation and navigating remote working, but most importantly for her, championing diversity and inclusion.

APM Project Summer 24 Cover

Previous issue: Summer 2024

This issue of Project is jam packed with stories that reflect the huge array of sectors that are now embracing the advantages of both the considered planning of project management and the nimbleness it can pivot towards when demands require it. These are transferable skills that project managers can bring to any sector – a theme of APM’s new report The Golden Thread. We take a look behind the stats to consider how you can best capitalise on the opportunities the profession can bring, and which skills you need to work on to help your future career fly.

Building on the theme of skills and opportunities, we take a special behind-the-scenes look at project delivery at the National Gallery (our cover story); we learn about the challenges of managing the Ministry of Defence’s £13bn project portfolio, and we see first-hand how project management has been adopted – and is making a real difference – in the fast-paced newsrooms of the Washington Post.
