Volunteering at her daughter’s school gave Sana Zeeshan, credit controller for Association for Project Management (APM), an opportunity to bring history to life and get young people excited about learning.

Chepping View Primary Academy in High Wycombe held Greek Day in October to help Year 3 students learn about life in Ancient Greece.

Sana, whose seven-year-old daughter Minahil attends the school, volunteered to help staff and ‘work’ on one of the specialist areas that were set up to demonstrate people’s occupations during this period, from Ancient Greek doctors to artists and painters. Teachers and volunteers even wore period dress to bring the experience to life.

Sana said: “My daughter was part of this event and had a lot of fun learning about the Ancient Greeks’ day-to-day life. I enjoyed helping, too.

“My vocation was to advise and give out medicines to people with differing illnesses, from just a petty cold or headache to infections inherited from wars. To cure these, I prescribed typical Ancient Greek remedies such as cinnamon, thyme and rosemary.

“Greek Day was a huge success and I loved to be part of an amazing project.”
