The late Mike Browne, the founder of the Northern Ireland Branch
It is with great sadness that the members of APM Northern Ireland learnt of the death of Mike Browne, our colleague and founding member of the Northern Ireland Branch. As a senior lecturer in Construction Management at the Ulster University, he was the driving force in establishing the university’s MSc Programme in Construction Business and Project Management. He was passionate about education, his students and developing the skills of project management to the benefit of everyone in society. In 1993 Mike was the founding member of the APM branch in Northern Ireland. He quickly became involved with APM affairs at headquarters and was a significant contributor on a number of working groups and SIGs, pushing the boundaries of the organisation. He was recognised as a leader of project management in the Province and with his study tours and unbridled activity in promoting both APM and project management, he earned respect across many industries.
Anyone who met Mike could not be unaffected by his enthusiasm, professionalism and love of life, but most importantly his sense of fun. We will all miss him greatly and extend our deepest sympathy to his wife Lucia and children Sarah, James and Philip.
