Enabling project teams to embrace future opportunities was on the agenda at the Association for Project Management (APM) South Wales and West of England branch conference. This conference was held on 12 and 13 October 2021.

Project, programme and portfolio professionals from the region attended sessions from leading experts and networked with peers during the two-day virtual event, which focused on the technology, tools and skills that will shape future teams and help them succeed.

The conference featured sessions on neurodiversity, project data analytics, artificial intelligence and more. APM chair Debbie Lewis delivered the welcoming address, exploring how the project profession can make its teams fit for the future.

The South Wales and West of England (SWEE) region is a hotspot of project activity. Research by APM has found that the project profession in south west England and wales contributes a total of £27.8bn of Gross Value Added to the UK economy, and hosts more than 375,000 full time equivalent project professional jobs.

Robert Allen, branches manager at APM, said: “Our branch conferences are a highlight in our community calendar; none more so that our SWWE branch conference, which is currently one of the busiest and most dynamic regions for our profession.

“We were delighted to see so many colleagues joining us. We hope the conference will serve as a platform to attract more people to the SWWE branch, supporting our goal of representing project professionals throughout the UK and the world.”
