Taking programme management into the future: Implementing blockchain technology and what it requires

Digital technologies, such as blockchain, deliver efficiencies and aim to move the programme and project management world into the 4th Industrial revolution. This webinar explores the benefits and requirements for implementing blockchain.

Blockchain technology is progressing rapidly in a number of other industries, like banking, insurance etc. Many of the technology’s characteristics could also be used to support the management and delivery of programmes of work and therefore projects.

Blockchain drives operational efficiencies by removing intermediaries, minimising time and effort spent on admin, record keeping and transaction reconciliation.
When combined with other initiatives, such as storing of design / drawings on the cloud, smart contracts, collaborative working, standard project management structures, etc., it can support the efficient delivery of projects as well as programmes of work.

Another driver for implementing digital technologies is the Government’s ‘Construction Sector Deal’ policy (Jul 2018). This sets out the level of efficiencies to be delivered by the industry and specifies deploying these technologies as one of the strategies to accomplish this.

During the webinar it looks at a specific programme of works environment, considers the issues and limitations and the steps taken during its transformation. Then the benefits of blockchain will be presented and how it could be used to improve the delivery of the programme of works. Following this, the requirements of implementing blockchain are considered.
