The project profession is growing. Project management contributes £156.5 billion to the UK economy, according to APM’s recent research The Golden Thread, conducted with PwC – that’s more than financial services. This means a growing need for support and a sense of community for people in the profession, which is why APM has created a brand new conference series, Power of Projects, for 2020.

The conferences take place in Edinburgh, London and Manchester throughout spring and summer next year. APM is currently offering a super-early bird rate for all three conferences for a limited time only, where delegates can save up to 10 per cent on the standard ticket price.

The conferences will bring together project leaders from around the world to discuss the changing role of project management, the people factor, and the value that project management brings to business. It will also showcase groundbreaking projects that go beyond pure business value – that have made a genuine, positive change to the world we live in.

The conferences will discuss the topics that really matter to project managers, and help delegates to develop their skills through technical sessions and practical tools. In addition to profession-leading speakers and networking opportunities, delegates can also gain up to seven hours of Continuing Professional Development (CPD).

Each conference will cover different topics, projects and competency areas, taking into account the different backgrounds of every project professional. Streams will be based around the following areas:

People:

People make a project successful. The development of the people on your team – and the team itself – is crucial for your project’s success. This stream offers project professionals the tools to invest in both themselves and their wider teams. Health and wellbeing, leadership, employability, career development and diversity are likely to be covered in this stream.

Project:

Every day, the project profession delivers another groundbreaking project that benefits humanity and the environment, from research that helps fight disease, to new technology for delivering renewable energy. This stream aims to showcase innovative project management, demonstrating the future of the profession. It also aims to inspire pride in project professionals for being part of this great work. Sessions will include case studies and project stories, presented by the project professionals who delivered them.

Delivery:

This stream aims to equip delegates with valuable tools and techniques to help them to deliver more successful projects. Sessions may include: interactive workshops, delivered by speakers who are experts in specific areas of project management.
