New faces welcomed to APM’s Board of trustees

Two new members will join the Board of Trustees at Association for Project Management (APM) following this year’s board elections, it has been announced.

Bel French (pictured left) is the youngest-ever Chartered Project Professional (ChPP), having gained chartered status at age 22. Bel commenced her project management career in 2017.

After completing her A-levels, Bel began an NVQ Level 4 Associate Project Manager apprenticeship. She has since gained the APM Project Management Qualification.

Sheilina Somani (right) is also a ChPP and a Fellow of APM. She has worked in 50 countries, in industries as diverse as petroleum, IT, financial services, real estate, construction, transport, pharmaceuticals and local government.

The APM Board of Trustees is responsible for the strategic direction of the organisation, playing an essential role in keeping APM responsive, relevant and sustainable in a changing and challenging world.

In addition to the two new Board trustees, Amy Morley, Project Management Office (PMO) Director at HS2, has been re-elected to the Board.

All three trustees have been elected for three year terms.

The results were announced at APM’s annual general meeting on Monday, 14 November, which was attended by more than 200 people.

Milla Mazilu, APM’s Board Chair, said: “It’s my pleasure to welcome our newly elected trustees, Bel French and Sheilina Somani, to the APM Board. I would also like to congratulate Amy Morley on her re-election.

“This year’s elections showed the depth of talent in the profession, with several high-calibre professionals standing for election. We were pleased to see a diverse range of candidates applying, in terms of gender, age, ethnicity and industry experience. It was also another good year for voter turnout, at 18.1%. This shows a strong interest among our voting members as to who represents them on the Board of trustees. We hope to see this number increase further in future.”
