On Thursday 17 January 2019 more than 80 professionals, members of the APM and non-members attended the launch event of the new Furness Group of the APM, which will support project management in the Furness Region.

The North West branch of the Association for Project Management (APM) has helped launch a Furness Group that will pull together skills from a range of different industries within the region.

Its launch at Furness College attracted delegates from a wide range of industries, keen to network with their peers and share best practice.

Group Chairman Ian Murray said: "It was heartening to see such a good turnout at the inaugural event. We were fortunate to have such interesting speakers, particularly Steve Livingston who gave an insight into the fascinating global projects he has been involved in."

Richard Preston, Chairman of the APM North West Branch, attended the event to offer assistance, experience and funding to the new group. Welcoming the wide demographic represented by the audience, he stressed that continuing engagement with young people is crucial.

The evening culminated with a networking session and buffet provided by the college. The next Furness Group event will be held within the next three months, keep an eye on the APM website and @APMevents for updates.
