Business leaders, academics and award-winning project practitioners shared their insight on a wide variety of topics at APM’s latest Corporate Partner Forum.

The virtual event took place over two days and offered delegates access to panel interviews, case study presentations and knowledge-sharing. Sessions were live and interactive, with opportunities for delegates to ask questions and network with other attendees.

The theme of this year’s event was ‘delivering projects better’ and content focused on issues relating to technology, sustainability, skills development and megaprojects.

The forum was opened by keynote speaker James Kirkup, director of the Social Market Foundation and Columnist for The Spectator, former Political Editor of The Scotsman and The Daily Telegraph.

Other speakers included APM chief executive Debbie Dore and senior representatives from AstraZeneca, HS2, Heathrow, The National Trust and many more.

Former APM chair John McGlynn, director at Atkins, was also on hand to deliver a session on the use of digital technology to improve project outcomes, alongside Naomi Brookes, complex programme management professor at University of Warwick.

Responding to a question on how project professionals can identify what data is needed for certain projects, Professor Brookes said: “It’s about having a really clear understanding of what you want to do with your project and therefore what data you will need.

“We’ve lived for decades in the word of project control, perhaps without ever really taking a step back to think what data is necessary. This is a wonderful point in project management history to actually do that.”

Over 1,000 project professionals from leading organisations registered for the forum, demonstrating its value to APM’s corporate partners.

Rebecca Fox, director of membership at APM, said: “Our Corporate Partners are passionate about developing their project management capability and community. As the chartered body for the profession, events like our Corporate Partner Forum create opportunities for people to learn, share and enjoy being part of a community, which is vital at the current time.”

If you were unable to attend the event, don’t worry. You can access all the sessions on-demand here.

In addition, employees of APM Corporate Partners can access a full write up of the event by signing into APM’s Corporate Partner Hub.
