Green Week at APM - 4th to 8th November
Every day more comes to light about our impact on the planet and innovation that is being developed to put it right. This week at APM, we held a Green Week which over the course of five days saw the organisation focus on a range of activities and information to enable us all to act on tackling climate change.
Monday – Energy Reduction ‘Think before you print’
We received some important reminders to make us all think before printing – do we really need to print that email or document?
Turn it off!! A reminder to help save energy by turning off the lights when you leave a room, turning our computer monitors off at the end of the day and turning the printer to energy saver mode when not in use.
Tuesday – Waste Reduction
On Tuesday the focus was on Waste Reduction, and we were visited by pop up shops from Fill Food (www.fillfood.co.uk) with a selection of loose grains, pasta, coffee, spices, cereals, refillable cleaning and personal care products and more. Staff brought in their own containers in order to stock up on these waste free products.
We were also visited by Vida Eco Shop (www.vidaecoshop.com) encouraging us all to go plastic free with a fantastic display of reusable coffee cups, reusable bottles, plastic free reusable straws, wax wraps, cotton bags, plastic free sponges, washing and cleaning products, toiletries and more!
Wednesday – Go Electric
A selection of electric cars were on display in our car park from local car company GKL (www.gkluk.com) a supplier of specialist green vehicles. GKL’s knowledge and expertise within the electric vehicle industry meant they were able to provide staff with information about the best electric cars to buy or lease.
Thursday – Recycling Do’s and Don’ts
APM’s editorial co-ordinator was on hand to help us learn and understand more about Recycling Do’s and Don’ts. We saw a display of various items which can and can’t be recycled, as well as information guides and posters about plastic recycling, where to go to recycle locally, what not to recycle and what can be recycled at APM.
Friday – Local Action Awareness
For the final day of Green Week, we enjoyed a selection of local produce sourced from Haddenham Garden Centre as well as a Body Shop pop up shop for staff to purchase fair trade, cruelty-free beauty products. Staff also got the chance to take part in a fun Green Quiz to test their knowledge about climate change.
Many thanks to everyone who took part in our Green Week for putting on such a great programme of activity and running and supporting the pop-up stalls.
APM plans to continue our work to be as environmentally friendly as possible and will be planning more activity over the coming months.
