APM Midlands Branch has successfully conducted another face to face event on 12 October 2023 in Birmingham on ‘Change Management skills for Project Managers’ by Paul Clavering, Founder, Just Enough Change.

The session was interactive with a room full of delegates sharing their views. To highlight a few on which delegates had shown interests are ‘Driving Change’, ‘Models to Drive change’, ‘Different ways of Managing Change’. Although, we all were surprised with the figures on ‘Cost of Disengagement – Culture’, hence the importance of ‘why change and driving it is so important’.

Aswini, P.V. (Young Project professional ) shared that it was an invaluable experience, particularly for someone who's relatively new to this field, to gain insights into the intricacies of managing change at various organizational levels.

Rohan Hornsby (few years of Project Management Experience) shared that it was an interactive presentation covered a number of topics such as different types of change, who can drive change (all of us!), ensuring to understand the "why?" before moving to "how?", the cost of disengagement, and an introduction to different models to manage change and the skills associated with a good change manager.

I found this applied to previous changes I've experienced, such as when we recently moved office, and how crucial it was to engage staff at the early stages. The session also gave me ideas about how to better manage other new changes in the future and develop the skills required to do so successfully, which will be crucial in my day to day role.

Delegates appreciated the in person event, as it gives an opportunity to interact before and after the event.’

Speaker - Paul Clavering,
Founder, Just Enough Change

Paul Clavering started with a very technical and analytical mindset, working his way to CTO on the board of an AIMs listed organisation. However, his passion is change, in fact its Technology and Change. Over the years he has helped large organisations and central Government departments deliver some challenging change programmes. He is currently helping a FTSE50 company implement large scale people change within their Global IS team. However, he believes we should start simple and stay simple. Putting delivery over, but not at the expense of Governance. This is where the organisation ‘Just Enough Change’ was conceived.

On a personal level he is a FA qualified coach and setup the UK charity dedicated to the rare condition his daughter suffers from, Wiedemann-Steiner Syndrome.
