BBC presenter Dr Hannah Fry to open APM’s virtual Power of Projects Takeover (1 - 12 June)
Association for Project Management (APM), is delighted to announce the launch of its first-ever Power of Projects Takeover, a new virtual event bringing together the project community.
From Monday 1 June until Friday 12 June, project professionals will have the opportunity to attend this ground-breaking event, which will host a line-up of keynote speakers including Dr Hannah Fry (mathematician and BBC TV presenter), Nick Smallwood (chief executive officer of the Infrastructure and Projects Authority (IPA) and Richard Threlfall (global head of infrastructure at KPMG).
The virtual event is open to everyone with an interest in projects, those working in the profession, across all industry sectors and is completely free of charge to attend.
In her opening keynote speech, Hannah Fry will refer to her recent television programme, ‘Contagion! The BBC Four Pandemic’, in which she explores and leads a nationwide experiment using data to predict the impact of a future pandemic more accurately than ever before.
The Power of Projects Takeover will feature a programme which focuses on People and Project Delivery. The People stream will cover subjects such as leadership, employability, diversity, mental health and wellbeing in the workplace and career development. Project Delivery will include project case studies, social impact of projects, innovation, and practical delivery tools for project managers such as benefits realisation, change management, project planning, collaboration and complex projects.
Hilary Trahair, events manager at APM, said, “We are delighted to be launching this new virtual experience for project professionals to enjoy wherever they are in the world, as well as welcoming such prominent keynote speakers, who will no doubt have some fascinating and inspirational stories to share.”
Daily weekday sessions will take place from 12 midday, during which time there will be up to two simultaneous sessions taking place within the virtual platform. Those attending will be able to pick and choose the sessions they want to hear throughout the two weeks and will also be able to network and connect with other users, invite other users to chat, ask questions of the speakers and take part in interactive activity in the sessions.
APM members will get the benefit of being able to watch any sessions they may have missed for up to four weeks after the event at a time that suits them. In addition, APM members will get the opportunity to continue the conversation after the sessions on each day by visiting APM’s brand-new community platform , APM Hub. There they can discuss the key topics with other members of the project community.
