Babcock take the honours at the finals

With true Scottish tradition, after three months of tough project management, six teams took up the mantle and entered the APM Scotland branch Project Challenge Finals.  Ably supported by their mentors and company senior project managers, they set their goal to show to the steely-eyed judges what they have achieved leading up to their final presentation.

The Scotland PM challenge is an annual competition taken up by local organisations to deliver a project to the benefit of their chosen charity.  This requires the teams of young PMs to set a live environment for their projects and, of course, raise money for a worthy cause within Scotland.

The teams this year were from Thales, Leidos, BAE Systems (two teams), CGI and Babcock supported by a branch volunteer who acted as their mentor throughout the competition.  The charities varied, however over £6800 was raised adding to the grand total of over £43,000 over the past eight years.

The Ghillie Dhu set the scene for what was a vibrant and very competitive presentation evening with strong representations from each of the companies, including some rivalry between the two BAE Systems teams.  Sadly, they were upfronted by Babcock who gave a passionate delivery on their chosen charity; Starley Hall School, who provide care for young people who suffer from emotional and social difficulties.
