APM’s research summary series – doing the hard work for you
Did you know that we publish a research summary series?
Our research team look at articles published in the International Journal of Project Management (IJPM) and produce easy to access summaries, helping to disseminate cutting-edge research for practitioners.
Since its launch in November 2017 twenty-eight summaries have been produced covering a broad range of topics including; agile, benefits realisation, project capabilities and even corruption.
The easy to read digests were developed following a consultation. Creator of the summaries, Daniel Nicholls APM’s research manager said: “Feedback told us that practitioners wanted to know more about research but often did not have the time, lacked access to industry journals and found academic language sometimes difficult to understand.”
“Since 2017 we have published 28 summaries and this year we will cover more far-reaching topics, including the fashion industry, disaster recovery and historical projects. We will also be trialling new formats including interactive media - we want to make sure our content is as useful and accessible as possible.”
Daniel and the team at IJPM select which research will be included in the series according to popularity: most downloaded, and most cited. Plus, which research works in tandem with APM’s strategy and research themes, and through direct requests from practitioners.
The team are always looking for feedback about the series, as well as suggestions for future summaries you would like to see. You can make your views heard by emailing: research@apm.org.uk
