APM’s flagship project management conference takes place this Thursday 2nd May

The APM Project Management Conference London, which is sponsored by Hyde Park Solutions Ltd. takes place later this week and delegates are set for a day packed with valuable discussion, networking and takeaways.

The conference is the final event in APM’s Power of the Profession conference series - this time focusing on Delivering Value in a Transforming World. The conference will be opened by a very special guest keynote speaker from a top national security role who will set the scene for the day, underlining the transformational nature of the world today – and therefore the project environment.

The conference will also welcome BBC media and arts correspondent David Sillito to the stage to Chair an inspiring panel discussion scrutinising what conditions are vital to project success. Panellists will include Sarju Mistry, senior project manager from Nationwide Building Society, Craig Wallace, programme manager at NATS and Duncan Ross-Russell, regional director at Faithful+Gould - all of whom were involved in winning projects at the 2018 APM Project Management Awards.

Keynote speakers include Araceli Camargo, a neuroscientist who helps organisations enable change in their work practices by understanding how the brain works, and Tom Ollerton, an AI expert who helps businesses develop more effective messaging using this technology.

These subjects will be further expanded on in three streams in the afternoon, Adapt – focusing on project professionals requirement to be flexible and change based on the situation, Work Smart – covering improvements in working practice to result in better efficiency and productivity, and Perform – talking about key skills, leadership and diversity.

Delegates will have the challenge of choosing from an exciting line up of speakers from a number of different sectors. In the Adapt stream, Raki Nikahetiya from ZSL will tell his astonishing story of project managing in some of the most challenging environments in the world and pass on some of the lessons he learned along the way about the importance of being adaptable.

Researcher for Reform Think Tank Imogen Farhan will join Adam Alltoft, programme director for HMRC in the Work Smart stream to bring to life the findings of APM/Reform research about implementing smarter working practices. Adam will take delegates on HMRC’s continuing journey to develop both tangible (buildings, IT) and intangible (behaviour and culture) elements in their organisation.

In the Perform stream head of client and legal project management for Pincent Masons LLP Dee Tamlin will talk about the importance of diversity in project management teams. Delegates will be talked through the steps Pincent Masons took to improve inclusion and resulted in the firm being crowned Stonewall’s most LGBT inclusive employer in 2019. Dee will offer advice based on lessons learned for not only decision makers, but project professionals at all stages of their careers to encourage and develop an inclusive culture in their project teams and organisations – and why this can deliver better value and greater project success.
