APM Board Elections 2020: Nominations now open
Association for Project Management (APM) members are being invited to nominate candidates for the organisation’s upcoming board elections, which will see three newly elected members take an active role in driving APM and the future of the project profession forward.
As the chartered body for the project profession, APM is committed to developing and promoting project, programme and portfolio management. Its board of elected trustees plays a vital role in turning APM’s vision into a reality, creating a world in which all projects succeed with project management as a life skill for all.
Diversity of thought is important in improving decision making and outcomes. Consequently, APM is keen to see a diverse mix of characteristics and skills on the Board. Candidates from a broad range of backgrounds, sectors, experiences, stages of career, project disciplines and employing organisations would be beneficial.
The Board emphasises the need for the highest calibre candidates and wishes to see candidates come forward who can demonstrate a robust commitment to professional ethics and integrity. A commitment to provide the time and energy required to undertake the role is also essential. Applications are welcome from those who can demonstrate the competencies needed to be a Board member and who can operate at the highest level, with a focus on strategic contributions. Whilst beneficial, experience as a non-executive director is not essential.
APM members with Full or Fellow grade membership who feel they can bring diverse skills, backgrounds and experience to the board can nominate themselves to stand in the election. Voting will open on 5 October (9am) and results will be announced at APM’s annual general meeting on 16 November.
Mike Robinson, company secretary, said: “This election is an opportunity for experienced and committed project professionals to help serve their Association and profession. The board wants top calibre candidates to put themselves forward and we’ve developed some comprehensive guidance on the role which is available online.”
Reflecting a commitment to reduce our carbon footprint, we are going digital and will no longer be sending out hard copy ballot papers.
Full details on the role and a candidate briefing pack are available here.
