APM announces launch of Festival of Education and Research
APM (Association for Project Management), has announced the launch of the APM Festival of Education and Research - a new event which is set to showcase some of the best and brightest new talent among career starters, education and research. The APM Festival of Education and Research will take place at the Whitworth Hall at the University of Manchester on Wednesday 21 October 2020.
The free event will feature a careers fair, giving attendees the opportunity to meet employers face to face, followed by an awards ceremony. Delegates will also be able to take part in a series of interactive workshops led by academics and project management professionals. The event is aimed at a broad audience, from project management students and career starters to academics and researchers.
The APM Festival of Education and Research puts a spotlight on APM’s ongoing commitment to education and research, which has become an increasingly important part of its work – APM has seen the number of its student members double in recent years. The event will help support career development within the project profession, to recognise research excellence in project management and related fields, showcase the contribution of academics to the development of the profession, and help develop and enhance skills and capabilities through the interactive workshops.
Debbie Dore, chief executive of APM said: “We are really excited to be launching this new event which shines a light on our commitment to celebrating the crucial role of education and research in the project profession. It will also help cement APM’s position as a global thought leader in the field of project management.”
The awards ceremony, which will follow the careers fair and workshops, will see awards presented in the following categories:
- Project Management Student of the Year
- Project Management Apprentice of the Year
- Project Management Graduate of the Year
- Geoffrey Trimble Award for Project Management Postgraduate of the Year
- Herbert Walton Award for Project Management PhD or Doctoral of the Year
