1,000th Chartered Project Professional registered by APM
As the chartered body for the project profession, Association for Project Management (APM) is used to creating and upholding leading standards.
Now, APM’s internationally recognised Chartered Project Professional (ChPP) designation has reached a major milestone with more than 1,000 registered ChPPs, reflecting the value and importance of chartered status to individuals and employers.
Chartered Project Professional status enables those who meet the required standard to demonstrate a defined level of technical knowledge, professional practice and ethical behaviour.
People from a wide range of industries have succeeded in becoming a Chartered Project Professional, including engineering, defence, aerospace, construction, transport and manufacturing. Diversity among chartered individuals is also increasing, with professionals as young as 26 being formally recognised.
Benefits cited by Chartered Project Professionals include:
- Gaining personal and external recognition of a high standard that is common to many other professions
- Promoting a high standard of competence using post nominal letters (ChPP)
- Enhancing CV and earning potential
- Demonstrating to employers the ability to operate in a complex project environment and meet ethical standards
- Being on a par with other chartered professionals, such as engineers and surveyors.
Employers with Chartered Project Professionals within their workforce can benefit by having an aspirational framework with which to develop their people; attracting and retaining due to reputational enhancement associated with being an employer of Chartered Project Professionals; and being able to benchmark staff against the global standard for the project profession.
Debbie Dore, chief executive at APM, said: “This is a significant milestone for APM and the profession. We are seeing a growing interest in chartership from both individuals and employers as they realise the benefit and value it can bring – both to people’s careers and to businesses.”
