Clive Martin
Head of the Government Risk Profession
Clive became the first Head of the Government Risk Profession when the role was established in May 2022 to improve risk management capability, professionalism and credibility and find ways of collaborating across boundaries.
Housed in HM Treasury to ensure proximity to spending decisions, he also leads the government’s Risk Centre of Excellence which has a cross-government remit across all risk types, providing professional leadership to over 1,000 risk specialists including those with professional accreditation under the government’s new scheme.
Work includes: addressing potentially systemic risks at the Civil Service Board; developing and providing risk management training at all levels; creating and sharing new methods, toolkits and standards, and; collaborating with the IPA and others to develop risk profiling in major programmes.
Prior to government, Clive had several roles including 17 years at EY where he ran different client-facing practices in his 9 years as equity partner.
