New frontiers in programme management

The world today is rapidly changing, and it is the programmes of the future that will both help deliver and mitigate against these changes. However, globalisation, increasing social and political change and the rise of disruptive digital technologies such as artificial intelligence, internet of things and augmented reality means that the fundamental approach to programme management will be similarly changed.

How do we therefore prepare ourselves to execute programmes of the future if the whole field of play changes? Whilst there are many unknowns, what we do know is that the behaviours and values of the programme teams of the future are likely to be the constant which prevails. If we get these things right we are likely to succeed whilst the tools, techniques and frameworks evolve around us.

The APM Programme Management SIG annual conference, Transformational Programme Behaviours and Values, is at the Museum of Docklands in London on Thursday 14 March 2019.

There are a number of permanent exhibitions[1] including Trade and Expansion 1600 to 1800, and First Port of Empire when London was the hub of the world’s largest empire. Those pioneers of trade, industry and expansion had their own challenges to overcome, the level of change at the time affecting people across the globe. This has continued into the 21st century albeit with different types of issues.

The conference will bring together individuals who are leading this move to new frontiers in programme and project delivery. There will be the opportunity to learn from their lessons, meet like-minded individuals and expand your own professional network.
