The People Interest Network have a fantastic conference coming up in London at the Double Tree Hotel by Hilton, Tower of London on the 26th February 2025 where we will be touching on Autonomy, Teams and Tension with a focus on projects under stress, the tensions that may arise between autonomous leadership, teamworking and stakeholder inclusivity. This is an exciting opportunity for you to spend a whole day thinking about leadership and the people in your projects and teams. Also, this event will help you learn some tools and tricks on how to reduce some of the tension we often experience in our day to day working lives.
I’m really looking forward to the conference and meeting up with those I have worked with on previous events from the People Interest Network and APM Events and the fantastic speakers. The opening Keynote is from Eddie Obeng who I have seen speak a few times and he is so engaging and enthusiastic about all things projects and change; he is infectious and will no doubt be wearing one of his signature orange shirts.
As the lead for the APM Enabling Change Interest Network, I have been invited as a speaker at the upcoming conference running a breakout session in the after-lunch slot on insights for addressing tension. This will be an interactive session focusing on virtual remote teams and the challenges that brings in working together and how we can use insights and colour preferences to understand each other better and build better teams. For those that attend my session, I can promise that you will take away some great tips on how to work better with others virtually and in person.
There are two other breakout sessions running at the same time which look really interesting on Burnout and Psychology and Conscious Inclusion. I only wish I could attend those sessions as well, but there is a chance later in the day for the three hosts of those sessions to feedback as part of a panel which is a great way of making sure everyone gets a good flavour of each topic.
There are a couple of short sessions entitled Stakeholder Hacks with Trish Thurley and Ian Cribbes using real world examples which look really interesting. Having worked closely with Trish and Ian in the past, I know people will get a lot of value from these sessions.
I’m really pleased to see there are a couple sessions focusing on understanding our brains and the way we work like the Own Your Autonomy session with Oliver Randall and David Bovis and the session that follows entitled The Neurological Levels of Team-working; Harmony and Tensions with Tim Lyons who always delivers engaging sessions.
As a qualified coach I’m particularly interested in the session on Communication and Behaviour – Transactional Analysis that is just after the breakouts with Gordon MacKay. Transactional analysis is a fascinating subject if you are into the way that people communicate and behave.
Thank you to Dr Teri Okoro and Steve Walters of the APM People Interest Network for inviting me to be part of what promises to be a fantastic conference, and I really hope to see you there. You can book tickets to this event here.
