Duncan Ross RussellDuncan Ross Russell

Duncan was Head of Project Management for AtkinsRéalis PPS until November 2024, where he used his passion to see projects succeed and society benefit through empowering effective project leadership. Duncan has built a strong community of practice across AtkinsRéalis nationally and globally, bringing project professionals together into a self-supporting collective in which the subject matter experts are empowered to use their expertise to strengthen the wider community. Prior to taking on this role Duncan Lead a number of high-profile projects including the Northern Spire bridge in Sunderland, UK; a project that won the APM Infrastructure Project of the Year award in 2018.

As well as begin a Chartered Project Professional and Fellow of the APM, Duncan is a Chartered Mechanical Engineer and has degrees in Naval Architecture and Military Construction Engineering. He trained as a soldier serving as an Officer in the Royal Engineers for 16 years before moving into civilian project leadership. Duncan volunteers for APM on a number of Networks and as an Awards Judge.

Duncan is currently embarking on a new venture seeking to apply his project leadership skills to build vibrant, sustainable and collaborative rural communities where local businesses, community groups and individuals live in synergy.
